Shores of Hawk Run Hollow update

I purchased the Autumn at HRH pattern in September while I was in Booth Bay, Maine visiting my parents who were RVing there. What a great area... tons of shopping and great weather. I went to a great cross stitch shop and 2 great quilting shops. The cross stitch shop, The Stitcher's Corner had tons of patterns, some from designers that are no longer designing, which was nice to see, like Sisters and Best Friends. She also has lots and lots of Jobelan, Lugana, hand dyed pieces and Aida. And the upstairs room was full of every type of fiber you could want for Needlepoint and cross stitch. She also has lots of beautiful needlepoint canvases. And there are cats!!! Oliver and Snowflake. It is a great shop and I recommend visiting if you are in the area.

The 2 quilting shops are The Mariner's Compass and . Both are great shops and again I recommend visiting them if you are in the area.

Anyway, I'm moving along with Shores of Hawk Run Hollow which is fun to stitch. I ran out of 815, which I am using for the red (3777 in the pattern but not red enough for me) and bought a new skein but the color is just a smidge off from the one I was using. Hate that. You would have to look really hard to see the difference but it still bothers me a little. Here are some pictures.

The non pointy witches hat

Below is my Halloween table. Halloween is my favorite decorating holiday. I have a Halloween wall on my staircase which I will include another time. It is also my favorite stitching theme. :) I made this witches hat out of a styrofoam triangle and faux velvet. It came out pretty good but after looking at it in the pictures I wish I had made the top of the hat pointy. Oh well...next time, right. The witchy cross stitch design is by My Primitive Needle.

New progress during the storm

Tropical Storm Irene seems to have chilled out for a bit so I thought this was a good time to post....before the power thinks about going out. I have had this wool kit for a few years and finally made it. I love it. So many little pieces. My boy, Chester, is the tuxedo cat in the picture. My mom has recently gotten interested in wool and we got together one Saturday and worked on our respective projects. I have also been moving right along on Shores of Hawk Run Hollow.

Penny Rug

I went to a fantastic shop in Gilmanton, NH called Badger Brook Farm. She has the most beautiful dyed wools plus patterns, flannels, punch needle, threads, yarn and gorgeous finished pieces on the walls. No website but worth the trip if you are in NH. She has a lot of kits and this was a small penny rug kit. The pieces are already cut into circles and have a fusible web already on one side so you can iron the little pieces to the big pieces and they don't move when you are doing the blanket stitch. I put it under a candle. It was fun to make.

Summer Exchange

My first summer exchange was so much fun. Vicky sent me the most wonderful gifts. To the left is what I sent to Bronwyn in Australia. The stitched piece is a Shepherd's Bush. If you have never done an exchange before, I recommend it; it was a lot of fun.

I can't believe it has been 1.5 months since my last post. I have been working on my gift for my first exchange which I am very excited about. Picture to come once the package has been received. I also found this crazy huge moth on my screen this morning. It was about 6" long. Anyone know what it is? And also, my progress on A Quaker Christmas from Bygone Stitches. I am using Vicki Clayton silks and per usual, I can't remember what the fabric is. :)

A bag and some witches

I made this bag a few weeks ago and just love it. It has the right amount of pockets and room inside. I added a snap on the inside too so it closes. I love contrasting colors and patterns like stripes against a big bold pattern. I'm going to make 2 more; one for my friend Sarah who is begging for one and one for my mom for Mother's Day. The pattern is The Hazel Hipster by Two Peas in a Pod.

Next is Witches Hollow by The Primitive Needle who does awesome patterns, especially Halloween ones. Love halloween. It's my favorite holiday to stitch and quilt. There are a lot of green and greenish colors in this part of the design; not sure how much I like that but I love the oranges and reds. I may introduce more of them.

Geese in the Forest

This is called "Geese in the Forest" and it is my first foray into paper piecing. I LOVED IT!!!!! It was so precise and just a lot of fun. I chose colors to represent winter in the forest. These are Moda's Figgy Pudding line from a few years ago. Totally awesome. I finally got it quilted and the binding on and it is now hanging in my office.

Finished Block of Shores of HRH

It is so nice to be getting back in the swing of stitching. Soon I'll be spending copious amounts of money on too many patterns, fibers and fabrics. yea. And my friend Sue and I will be venturing up north to a cross stitch store with a good supply ofwonderful fabrics. Here is the finished block of Shore. And I found out what the linen is: 36ct Light Examplar by Lakeside Linens.

And below that is Celtic Autumn. I really need to finish this one; those beads and constant color change blocks down both side are a drag but I need to finish it. It is so beautiful.

A Discovery of Witches

Looking for a good book? A Discover of Witches by Deborah Harkness is one of my new faves. I finished it the other day and am onto reading Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand, an incredible author and philosopher. back to A Discovery... it is an adult vampire and witch book which is great because I've been in the young adult section so far for books of this theme. It's fun, smart, and a good story to start off a trilogy.

Silver Medieval Sampler

This is Silver Medieval Sampler by Dessins DHC. It is so close to being finished but I can't seem to get myself to do those final stitches. The picture isn't the best but there are only 2 colors. WDW Icicle and Seafoam. The design calls for a bunch of different grays and it just didn't look right because the color picture on the design looked like 2 colors; white and green. So, I stuck with that. It really is pretty especially with the linen which is midnight blue with some splotchy purple.

Welcome to my blog Wicked Stitching. I can procrastinate like no one but hopefully I can update this once a week. I have a great friend who I stitch with who has been my stitching inspiration and is getting me back into my favorite hobby ever. Sometimes we need a break and I took one but I forgot how relaxing and fun it can be. I'm slowly getting back to it.

Below is one of my favorite designs to stitch ever, The Shores of Hawk Run Hollow by Carriage House Samplings. The colors are awesome. I changed the fish color from 3858 to 815 which makes it pop way more than 3858. It is on 36ct R&R linen but I can't remember which color. Bad habit I have of forgetting to write that down somewhere. Let's
